New, high performance Viscom 8M AOI camera technology with OnDemandHR-Operation meets extreme cycle time requirements Nepcon Shanghai 2008, Shanghai – East Hall Level 1, Stand 4F23 8M camera technology from Viscom introduces a new generation of sensor modules to the market. Up to 25 % faster image upload, full color capability with white illumination and the integrated OnDemandHR-Operation, a selective high-resolution capability which delivers resolutions of 11.7 or 23.4 µm/pixel without diminishing image field size, are among its highlights. As the essential core of an automatic optical inspection system, the sensor module determines throughput and resolution. The new, high performance Viscom 8M is used for the first time in the S3088-II and S6056, equipping them to meet extreme cycle time requirements. Viscom inspection systems from the S6055/S6056 line can be retrofitted with this technology starting in 2008. The 8M sensor module is equipped with color cameras and white LEDs, so the AOI system is capable of color evaluation. This color evaluation capability will now allow the equipment to distinguish between copper and silver, resulting in defect recognition such as copper exposure. Existing programs can easily be transferred to the new 8M platform. With the OnDemandHR-Operation, resolution can be set to either 11.7 or 23.4 pixels for every analysis, with full image field size at both settings. Thanks to this new development, even 01005 solder joints can be reliably inspected. The orthogonal and the angular camera modules each contain four cameras; eight angular cameras are available as an option. Last but not least, the new camera technology brings distinctly faster image acquisition, 20 fps (frames per second), to significally boost throughput.
